DENVER, November 14, 2024 — Slopes: Ski & Snowboard, the award-winning winter sports app, debuts one of the largest collections of high-quality digital ski maps in a new season update.

Upgrades and integrations to its custom resort mapping technology allowed the app to expand its coverage to over 2,000+ resorts worldwide. This expansion includes 662 proprietary Slopes maps, meticulously crafted by the team's mapping experts. An additional 1,523 maps are sourced from the community-driven platform OpenStreetMap (OSM).

Slopes' high-quality interactive maps provide users with impressive 3D spatial awareness to navigate ski areas, locate friends on the mountain, trace their runs while recording activities, and search for trail and resort information—all in one place.

“Whether you’re riding in Europe, North America, or Japan, on Epic, Ikon, or any other ski area, we want Slopes to be there for you wherever you go and whenever you need it,” said Jessica Kripp, Product Owner, Maps & Resorts. “This season, together with the OSM integration, we tripled the size of our map collection, creating one of the largest high-quality sets of 3D ski maps on a single platform. Seeing the final product go live is rewarding, and we’re excited to see it in action.”

A Closer Look at Our Maps

The entire collection of advanced maps is now available on iOS and Android, with the Android version receiving significant updates in this release. Users can now enjoy the stunning 3D mode, and search functionality on maps for trails, lifts, facilities, and ski patrol, complete with detailed data cards for easy access to essential information.

Slopes' Interactive Trail Maps are exclusively available to Premium users, with plans priced at $29.99 annually. Core features—including live location tracking, finding friends on the mountain, key stats, and summaries—are free for all users but would rely on standard device maps for data visualization.

The Slopes mapping team is focused on enhancing the user experience for upcoming season releases. Major backend upgrades have been incorporated into the mapping system, which now supports complex layers of information, including ropes, gates, slow zones, restricted areas, and points of interest across resorts.

Breckenridge Resort and Tsugaike Mountain Resort are debuting these enhancements today, offering an exclusive preview of what’s to come. The next generation of High-Definition Maps will gradually roll out over the coming months and seasons.
